Goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck signed her first professional contract with the Club in January 2018, having made the step up from the Development Squad.

The 18-year-old put pen to paper in a deal which runs until the end of the 2018/19 season, after impressing on the senior stage in Karen Bardsley’s absence.

While it would be easy to take the foot off the gas, Roebuck is completely focused on continuing her growth and improvement.

The youngster starred in the latter stages of the 2017/18 campaign, thrown in at the deep end when England shot-stopper Bardsley suffered an early injury in the Super League top-of-the-table clash at Chelsea.

Roebuck was introduced from the bench and produced a sensational performance to preserve a precious point and continued to shine, as City secured a top-two finish and Champions League football for a third successive year.

The shot-stopper has also enjoyed glory on the international stage, helping England Under-20s to bronze medal success at the 2018 World Cup in France.

She earned her first senior call-up to the Lionesses squad in the latter stages of 2018 and has continued to flourish for both Club and country.

She signed a two-year contract extension in 2019 and her performances continue to shine. She was awarded the Barclays FA WSL Golden Glove at the end of the 2019/2020 season, having kept 10 clean sheets in 16 league appearances.

Following a prestigious nomination in FIFA’s TheBest Women’s Goalkeeper awards, she penned a new three-year deal with City in February 2021.

Selected in Team GB’s squad for the Tokyo Games, Roebuck asserts the experience made her a better player and although she is yet to feature in the 2021/22 campaign through injury, is regarded as one of the world’s most exciting young shot-stoppers.

She made her 100th appearance for the Club in February 2022 against Chelsea, before helping the Club to Continental Cup success over the Londoners the following month.
