Alan Mahon Alan Mahon

Bio

Former REpublic of Ireland international Alan Mahon joined City’s coaching staff in August 2014.

The Dublin-born attacking midfielder joined the ranks as Nick Cushing’s Assistant Coach in the middle of our debut campaign in the FA Women’s Super League, helping the newcomers to a respectable fifth-place finish and historic Continental Cup success.

Promoted to Assistant Manager in 2018, Mahon is involved in everything from coaching and recruitment to the Girls’ Academy.

During his seven years at the Academy Stadium, the Club have won seven trophies: three FA Cups, three Continental Cups and a league title, and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League at our first two attempts.

Upon Cushing’s departure in February 2020, he also took charge of the team as interim manager before Gareth Taylor‘s appointment and was retained as the new Head Coach’s #2.

City have reaped the benefits of Mahon’s vast experience. Across a 16-year playing career, the attacking midfielder clocked more than 300 appearances, scoring 31 goals, and played in the 2000 League Cup Final and Champions League.

A reliable, knowledgeable and personable character, he is a highly respected figure both on and off the pitch.
