David Silva scored his first Manchester City goal on this day in 2010 as we edged past Blackpool away from home.

The Spaniard curled home a classy effort following a Carlos Tevez brace at Bloomfield Road to help us climb second in the Premier League table after a 3-2 win over the Tangerines.

After a goalless first half, the pair were in the thick of the action early in the second as Tevez tapped home Silva’s low cross.

Marlon Harewood headed an equaliser for the hosts shortly after, but we weren’t level for long, as the former West Ham attacker restored our lead seconds later with a deflected effort from the edge of the box.

We then moved further ahead when Silva whipped home his maiden league goal from inside the box, after chopping past two Blackpool defenders.

The points were all-but sealed by the time Gary Taylor-Fletcher reduced the deficit in stoppage time.
