Four goals from Edin Dzeko and a further strike from Sergio Aguero set the seal on a convincing display in the capital from Roberto Mancini’s men.
City went in two goals to the good at the break courtesy of a Dzeko brace, and the Bosnian would complete his hat-trick before the hour from close-range.
Aguero added number four when he found the top corner of Brad Friedel’s net after racing away from Michael Dawson, before Younes Kaboul pulled one back for the hosts.

But it was Dzeko who would have the final say, increasing his personal tally for the afternoon to four with a phenomenal curling strike from distance.
It was a true signal of intent from Roberto Mancini’s side, who would go on to win our first Premier League title nine months later.
